
Are you still who you are even if you’re not existing in who you are? Is identity a phenomenon like time, which only remains unchanged in the present moment? Is identity “singular” or “plural” – I mean, is it a single frame or an entire movie? Finally, is there a foundational essence or quality to identity?
Who would have thought that the final episode (of Season 1) of Marvel’s “WandaVision” would have resurrected such a philosophical, mysterious and ancient question?

We experience this feeling when Vision is fighting against Vision. Who is the real Vision? Is it the one born from the physical or from the spiritual? The puzzle is embodied with the question about the ship, the Theseus, wrestled over by Greek philosophers…
Is it the same boat if all the wood is replaced? What if you restored all the old wood and assembled the boat again, is it still the same boat? What about the refurbished boat? The center of the matter hovers around what is really the core or essential element of identity?
Masculinity is the most significant and foundational part of the male identity involving the physical, emotional and spiritual. Some would argue that it is in crisis, or at the very least unstable… It’s worth talking about.
I think I might tackle this topic in the next Genesis Man podcast.
