Biography
Rev. Dr. Timothy Quek has served for many years as Senior or Lead Pastor at various churches in the GTA. His passion is in growing vibrant churches, and the revival of churches. In the course of his ministry, he has had the privilege of planting five new churches, four of which are in the GTA. He came to Christ from a non-Christian family and very quickly became convinced that the pathway to true Christian growth is through walking in discipleship, and immersion in the power of God’s Word, and learning to walk in step with the Spirit of God in the deeper life in Jesus Christ.
In his early formation as a believer, he was introduced to cross-cultural missions and the necessity to be an ambassador for Christ to the world needing the Gospel. It led him to be trained in the Bible and also in the practice of Psychology so as to reach people in their places of deepest need. He received his PhD in Psychology at York University, Toronto, and was in private practice for 23 years. During this time, he had the privilege of helping churches in conflict, and bringing back the Spirit filled life to stagnant churches.
In 2006, he heard God’s distinct call and started his migration into full time ministry. In January 2024, he planted a multi-ethnic church in the Scarborough area of Toronto called Just Church (“Church just the way Jesus called us to be – filled with the Spirit, loving His Word, loving each other, and loving the lost”). He currently serves as the pastor to this exciting work. He lives in the City of Toronto with his wife, Bernice, and their son, Daniel.
