2025

Regional Director’s Address
Welcome to the West family of churches Men’s Leadership Conference 2025! It is said that “eyes that look are common, but eyes that see are rare.” To change your environment and inspire those you lead, you will need vision. It was the vision of the Wright brothers that gave birth to the aeroplane. It was the vision of transforming dark rooms into light that inspired Thomas Edison.
Having that vision of who God created you to be, to impact and change lives, is the hope of those under your stewardship as a leader. It is Steve Jobs who said, “If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.”
Great leaders used their lives to serve others, not their ambition. Hence, servanthood is the nature of a genuine leader. In (Mark 10:42-45), a Great servant-leader once said,
“You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you, he said. He recommends instead whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be the slave of all. For even the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
If you identify yourself as a servant-leader, which I believe you are, you must lead from the heart, a heart that is attuned to the creator and is led by the Holy Spirit.
As you continue to serve those in your church, in your organisation, in academic institutions, in the Hamilton Community, in your local groups, and yes, those who live within your homes. Lead in the spirit of servanthood. In the words of Dr Myles Munroe, one thing we must remember is,
“Servanthood is the nature and attitude of true leaders.”
