Let’s Talk

I have found that often times men tend not to talk about the essential things they feel. This is not a fate, only an observation. Sometimes when another guy opens up and shares something he is going through, I ask, “Who else have you spoken with?” The usual reply is, “No one.”

As men we need to be like (excuse the military metaphor) ancient Greek soldiers fighting in a “phalanx” formation. The shield in your left hand protects your brother on the right and the guy on your right protects you with his… Connecting and talking to each other is one way to remain healthy in our masculinity.

The following pages have questions inspired by and generated from the Genesis Man eBook. (You will find the chapters under the “eBook” tab in website menu.)

What should I do with the chapter discussion questions?

1. Let’s talk! Let’s start a discussion! Write a response in the comment box at the bottom of the “Reflection Questions” pages.

Honestly, no marks will be deducted for spelling and grammar. No judgments will be made here, your thoughts, feelings and opinions are important. (Just remember this is a public forum, so be respectful in your dialogue.)

In Addition...

2.  Why not start a journal? It could be an excellent space to work out your thoughts.  I have always felt that this worked with me.  I kept a journal for about 3-4 years while I was in University – a long time ago.  It was quite a treat rereading those earlier entries and to have a glimpse of how I thought and felt, and how I have changed since then.

3.  Why not join a group?  Small groups are excellent ways to have discussions and find support.  It is a way to communicate in a safe space with a group that you know and trust and have developed relationships. These questions are good for small group leaders. (A future project will be a Genesis Man small group leaders document.)
