National Men and Young Men’s Retreat

2025

“Aligning with God’s Perspective”

The National Men and Young Men’s Retreat has been a smashing success! We assembled once again in Cornwall, Ontario on Friday October 31 to Sunday November 2, 2025 at the Dev Hotel and Conference Center.

Our Keynote Speaker

We were tremendously blessed to have Bishop Dr. Roger Ball minister to us on the Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday morning. (Read his biography HERE.)

In spite of transportation challenges things worked out, and we are thankful for the efforts he and Lady Ball made to be at the Retreat.

Dr. Roger Ball

FRIDAY NIGHT

The Return Feed: What You Feed, Grows

Romans 12:2-3

There was a powerful message on Friday evening that made us examine the algorithms in our lives. The key thought helped us to understand that the things that we put into our lives are oftentimes amplified back.

According to Bishop Ball, this first message was being “slow cooked”! It was a masterful introduction to the triology of learning that we would experience. You can access Friday’s message below.

Visit the YouTube link HERE or watch it below. (Devotion – 32:30 | Message – 1:08)

SATURDAY NIGHT

The Rewrite: How God Edits our Broken Chapters

Genesis 50: 17-21

The Saturday night message was awesome (28:50), and yes, the word was extra juicy and with unbelievable flavour. We were challenged, deeply touched and experienced the joy of play! Yes, we played games during the message (1:30:00). There was a powerful movement of the word of God -it was truly an unforgettable experience.

SUNDAY MORNING

Alignment With God’s Divine Perspective

Job 42:1-6

Sunday morning came much too soon, still Dr. Ball’s message was quite timely. He closed off the weekend with the third part of the trilogy, and it left the men and young men prepared with the task of moving forward and experiencing a realignment with God’s perspective. Like the character of Job, we too had the opportunity to encounter God, and be profoundly changed and equipped for servanthood.

More to Come

It is not enough to simply hear a message. We hope that you will take the time to listen to them many times over, because we learn through repetition. Not only that, but we will be taking a deeper dive into these thoughts and ideas that were shared over the weekend by sitting down with Dr. Ball and recording a 2025 Retreat Podcast. Stay tuned, details will follow.

Elective Presenters

An important part of Retreat is the time we spend in personal and interactive Saturday morning sessions with our weekend elective speakers. This year we were privileged to hear from Dr. Shane Joseph (Bio), Pastor Charles Tranchant (Bio), Min. Israel Harriott (Bio) and Tavaughan Plummer (Bio).

Dr. Shane Joseph

Dr. Shane’s Saturday morning session did not disappoint. For those of you who know him, you certainly know what to expect. He teaches and engages with the audience in a way like no other. It was informative and so deeply engaging that the men who were there didn’t even want to go for lunch! Dr. Shane’s notes and PPT will be available here shortly.

If you would like to see more of him, Dr. Shane will be ministering at the West Regional Men’s Conference in Hamilton, Ontario Saturday November 29, 2025.

Pastor Charles Tranchant

You will notice that this is not just a “Men’s Retreat”, but it is the National Men and Young Men’s Retreat. Our young men are not an afterthought, but they are an integral part of our planning.

Pastor Charles held a dynamic session for our young men. They were encouraged, engaged and inspired during this time.

We are grateful for his presence not only as he ministered to our next generation, but also being a liaison for our French-speaking men and young men.

We are thankful for our French-speaking brethren who have joined us from Drummondville, EDPMN (Montreal North) and Montreal West Church of God of Prophecy.

Also, we welcome Casséus Waglere who has been a newly appointed member of the National Men’s Ministry team. We look forward to working closely with him to help us unite as both English and French men and young men of Eastern Canada.

Min. Israel Harriott

This session started with a deep discussion focussed on the examination of the influence of men through the song called “A Boy Named Sue”. We were challenged with the National Men’s Ministry theme entitled “A Job-like Engagement“, and discussed various engagement opportunities such as Passport to Purity, Ceremonies, Rites of Passages and Mentorship. You can read more about this by clicking on Engagement & Influence.

Tavaughan Plummer

For the second year in a row, Tavaughan “Will” Plummer gave a presentation on mental health. His work in occupational physical therapy and in various healthcare settings made this contribution to the Retreat a significant event. It was informative, practical and was composed of spirited discussion!

Special Recognition

Special recognition goes out to our Saturday morning youth moderator Kenroy Caine from the Montreal West COGOP. He is to be congratulated on doing an excellent job!

Our aim and determination is to have young men be a part of the Men’s Ministry. Without them, we have no future.

Special Guests

(Dr. Ball, Bishop Morrison & Kingsley Morrison)

We were very blessed to have Bishop A.R. Morrision join us in our National Men’s Retreat.

Bishop Morrison is one of the pioneers for the Church of God of Prophecy in Eastern Canada and he has built an incredible legacy of faithfulness and servanthood.

A Message from Minister Wright

It was truly a fulfilling and spiritually enriching weekend for my Assistant Director Minister Lenroy Vassell (on the left) and I to attend the National Men’s Conference.

The wealth of information shared had a profound impact on us, and the fellowship and connections we formed with the men were truly a blessing.

We encourage you to continue the great work you are doing as you lead men and motivate them to become all that God has called them to be.

Minister Gerald Wright | Mid-Atlantic Regional USA, Men’s Ministry Director

Important Notes

It is hard to believe that last year was our first Men and Young Men’s Retreat after a seven year break. This year we have come quite a distance! We had 182 registered participants for this event. Thanks to our finance team of Mervin Dixon, Lloyd Keane and Andrew Mahorn, we made many progressive administerial steps forward!

Looking Ahead

We are aiming to address some of the following challenges such as maintaining a registration cut off date one month before the Retreat date, and minimizing post registration changes and no shows. These issues work against our productivity.

A New Initiative

This year we are so excited to begin a new initiative: The 2026 Men and Young Men’s Pre-Retreat Registration Program! We have never done this before. During the weekend Retreat we were able to begin a successful pre-registration for the 2026 Retreat. (Register HERE)

Can you imagine if 50% of our registration goals were already met before our registration actually opened?  Can you imagine if our local leaders, team members and committed men were already on board?  Then our primary goal would not be about persuading our church members to attend, but rather to focus our energies in getting our men and young men who don’t know Christ to be there. Our Retreat could truly be a tool not only of celebration but of outreach and to strengthen our local men’s ministries.

Photo Gallery

For those who weren’t there, please take the opportunity to enjoy our pictures taken by our photographer Roel Rose. If you were at the Retreat, these should bring back some great memories!

The Saturday Youth Session

Gym Time with the Youth

Our young men are not an afterthought when it comes to the planning of our Retreats.  They had a fantastic time of activity that was organized by Joshua Harriott and Daniel Cole.  The amazing amenities at the Dev allowed for access to a 24 hour gym and an olympic sized pool!

Saturday Evening Service

Saturday Night Jam and Talent Session

Our young men had an opportunity to display their talents and practice on instruments. It was a time for learning and worship! Thank you to Daniel Cole for organizing this session. Next year we would like to see even greater representation and variety from all of our churches in Eastern Canada.

Sunday Service

Thank You!

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the many people who helped to make this event a success. Thank you to our administrative Bishop Dr. Shelton Beneby who is a constant patron and champion of men’s ministry. Thank you as well to Miriam Bailey, Jacklyn Reid and the National Office administrative staff.

We are tremendously grateful to our keynote speaker Dr. Ball and Lady Ball, and our elective speakers Dr. Shane Joseph, Pastor Charles Tranchant and Tavaughan Plummer.

Thank you to our AV technician David Louis, music director Marshall Sharpe, and song leader Roel Rose. We appreciate Stalph Simeon the Conference Services Manager and the entire staff at the Dev Hotel for their welcoming stay.

Thank you to our financial team Andrew Mahorn, Lloyd Keane, and Mervin Dixon. Thank you as well to our ushers and security for their service for the weekend.

THE MEN AND YOUNG MEN ALLIANCE | National Men’s Ministry Team

Left to right: Anthony Hunte, Howard Clarke, Daniel Cole, Percival Plummer, Israel Harriott (Director), Heatman Nickleford, Marshall Sharpe, Rodney Pringle. (Absent: Casséus Waglere)

If a chain is only as good as its weakest link, I have got to say that we have a powerful, unbreakable team!  I would like to thank all the members of the National Men’s Ministry Team for their Herculean efforts.

Each member is unique and brings their own strength and abilities to make this work happen.  They took on the task to rally their men and young men and attended countless team meetings in addition to their local ministries, family and work life.

The Men and Young Men of Eastern Canada

Finally, let’s be real… Without the men and young men of Eastern Canada, this would not have happened at all. Thank you for attending the 2025 National Men and Young Men’s Retreat. Without you, where would we be?

Our American guests drove six hours from New Jersey to be with us! From Ontario men came from the GTA and Durham region to be at the Retreat. As well, there was a great delegation from Quebec that attended.

A very special thank you to the men and young men from the Church of God of Prophecy Eastern Canada who also travelled from quite a distance to be here. Our Hamiltion and West Region brothers (lead by Heatman Nickelford) drove five and a half hours to be with us, and they brought an impressive assembly of men and young men!

But Wait, There’s More…

I want you to be aware that Men’s Retreat is not merely an event that finishes after a weekend, but it is an ongoing part of the Men’s Ministry.  We will be continuing the conversation through Podcast discussions and the sharing of resources.  Visit the MYMA website often, subscribe and “like” our blog. Stay tuned!

The Men’s Ministry in Eastern Canada is alive, well, growing, thriving and we have a bright future. I look forward to a culture of engagement and servanthood as we continue to align with God’s Divine Perspective.

Israel Harriott | National Men’s Ministry Director Eastern Canada
